September 10, 2026, Fr. Bejamin sends report to Share the Faith Ministries. He writes, “Ss Sergius and Herman of Valaam Houghton, MI School is back in session at Michigan Tech, and the returning students and faculty have made Sundays more exciting again. Our choir is fuller and the Sunday coffee hour boisterous and crowded. Recently, we had an accordionist accompaniment to lunch.”
Importantly, in his report he states, “one of the challenges of a community that serves a college town is that ebb and flow of temporary student parishioners. We work to train them to read, serve, sing, and understand the services knowing very well that make investments in future parishes that will benefit from our time and commitment.
Also, the report included, “investment from Share the Faith is especially valuable now with the largest student membership we’ve seen. We have already had one September baptism with two more scheduled and an incoming group of dynamic students for the catechumen class.”
To conclude his report, Father Benjamin expresses his gratitude, “we are forever grateful to Share the Faith and their generous donors for helping our local community to continue to serve these students. They bring so much life!
